Flavors of Bosnia

The second Flavors outing – Bosnian food experience – brought these two Flavoristas to enjoy the flavors of Bosnia at Sofra Bosnian Grill in Meridian, Idaho today where they had lunch and conversation about how today’s young aspiring cultural leaders receive their inspiration in the academic settings. Their culinary focus, however, was on the delicious burek – a spirally phyllo (or filo) pastry stuffed with a mixture of ground meat or cheese. It’s no wonder this street food of Bosnia is easily anyone’s comfort food. Depending on sources, the burek is an Eastern European food that dates back to the Ottoman Empire. The uncontrollable burst of roaring laughter and brimming smiles from these Flavoristas suggested “…more cheese-filled burek please!”

Follow these Flavoristas on their next outing on November 1st to Kibrom’s Restaurant for an Ethiopian experience and conversation around country and continental distinctions.
